Live music = getting beat up

Comments

Not advocating that artists start beating up their fans or anything, but the DJ was dealing with a drunk that swinging a mic stand at his equipment during a performance. This wasn't just some boob slobbering on an Anvil case. The "smack down" might have been excessive (what does "smack down" mean? shoved him? punched him in the head? broke his leg?), but if security couldn't keep the drunk away from the performer, then I don't fault the performer for taking care of it. And who the hell rushes the stage at a Wilco show? It's not like it's the Replacements.

I think lumping those two in with the Houston cops going apeshit is a little unfair, especially since the Houston cops have a very unlovely rep with live music going waaaaay back.
Apparently, according to his message board, the DJ hit the guy in the face.

Yeah, it's probably a little unfair, but I didn't do the lumping together, that was P-fork.

It's just a little coincidental that all three of these stories hit the news this week, and it's only Wednesday!
Oh, I didn't think you were lumping them.

It is weird when a little spike like this happens. It's probably because Pluto's been demoted and thrown off all the planetary convergence math.

Somebody tell Tipper Gore indie rock's DANGEROUS. I want to see Stephen Malkmus at a Jicks show, lifting up his shirt to flash his "RANGE LIFE" tummy tattoo. At least with hip-hop showz0rs, I know when the violence is comin' -- right on the beat. (Just kidding: here's my next live-music show. *cries*)
